Reading Sean’s bio, and seeing the mention to a “carrot-stick approach to religion,” I am reminded that just this morning I was thinking (this can’t be original): Too many people think “the gospel” simply means switching from the stick to the carrot. In actuality, “do this and live” is just as much Law as “do not and die.” The gospel is when you get to jump into the cart!
