Yeshua: Jehova Saves

From a great Sunday School class this morning on how the Old Testament Joshua prefigures the New Testament Joshua.

So when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, and as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest), the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, and those flowing down toward the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over opposite Jericho.

Even so, when the great High Priest dipped his feet into the icy waters of death (this death has not remained within its intended boundaries of being only for plants and animals, but has overflown all its banks and become a flood killing even bearers of the divine image), the waters were stopped all the way back to Adam, the waters which previously flowed down to the Salt Sea (everything from Adam flows down to the Sea of Death) were completely cut off. And, under the protection of the great High Priest, all of God’s people were able to safely pass through the water that leads to death, and into God’s promised land.
